Georgetown candlepin - Georgetown MA

YouTube Video

^^^^DONT YOU HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS?!? I need bowling lessons.

After already bowling three strings in Amesbury and frankly I was pretty dead, I decided that we should drive by Georgetown and see if it was open. After the door opened and the guy said that we could bowl, we were in. I walked in and instantly fell in love. I felt like if I had a candlepin alley in my basement it would be exactly this.

I was lazy and tired so I decided to use the house balls while we were bowling. The lanes here were so awesome and the balls glided so fast, like grease lightning. There was also a glass bottle soda machine.

You NEEED to call ahead if you're not in the area. This place was pretty pricy at 4.50/string, but I don't care. It was so cool. This place is the meaning of hidden gem.

Riverwalk Lanes and games- Amesbury MA

Well we decided that we were going to be on the north shore to bowl and there were only a handful of places left to try. There are two alleys in Amesbury, Leo's Super Bowl and Riverwalk. There were a couple of reasons that we chose Riverwalk. They offered a free game (get the 3rd for free when you pay for 2) with a Yelp check in, it was cheaper in general, and we like cool small alleys.
Speaking of yelp, I need to do new reviews on alleys.

They are doing a lot of renovations to the alley and some if the paint was still wet when we came in! The group of people there were so awesome and friendly. Working out the kinks in redoing this is so much work I'm sure, but I hope this place gets real busy.

They also had a little corner of old pins, balls and books. I liked thumbing through all that stuff.

We will be back!

Hanson bowladrome- Hanson MA

There are very few places in my close area that I haven't been to and Hanson was one of them. Hanson is only 3 or 4 towns over from me, but there's not a fast way to get there. With mike being down at my place that weekend and my mom having the weekend off I decided that we would check out scituate or Hanson. Scituate didn't pick up the phone so Hanson it was.

It was a hidden little place and it was a nice cool escape from the heat. I'm baffled that more people don't bowl in the summer, it's usually nice and air conditioned! Those fools!

We had the place to ourselves and it wasn't too expensive. I feel like the pins were kind of dead and heavy though.
It was very cute and it was like of like a time warp. Per usual with most candlepin alleys it was a step back in time, but everything was kept up nicely and everything was in working order.

Lanes and Games- Cambridge MA

Well let me just say that Lanes and Games was plan b. With Ball sq being locked up with some kind of party inside that's where we headed. I normally don't go there because its disgustingly overpriced, when I say that I mean it. They charge $5.25 a string, OVER FIVE DOLLARS A STRING......
Once you get over the initial shock and sting, the place is decent. The pins had decent enough action, but I feel like multiple times I would have got a spare there would be one random pin standing.
We were the only ones downstairs, it was peaceful.
I actually have gotten one of my bowling balls repaired here and the repair was reasonably priced, surprisingly.
They have food, drinks, lottery, arcade, parking. If this place didn't rob you blind when you bowled I'd probably come here more than once a year.

Ball Square Bowling- Medford MA

Well this it is. After years of wondering and trying, we finally found our way inside of the illusive medford alley.
Now this is the scoop with it:
-They are open to the public on the weekends
-You need to call and see when they plan to open and if they are opening
-Then you patiently wait for them to open

TA DA

It was reasonably priced and super cute and tiny inside. If you ever get the chance to go there I would suggest that you do.

Ron's in Hyde Park

I know that I've done a general write up on Ron's, but I didn't try any new places this weekend. Amber joined me on this late night two string adventure. She lives real close to Ron's so it worked out to go there.

I'm happy that I bowled in the 90s when I was super tired.

Sunnyside Bowl- Danvers MA

Ever since Dave and Caitlin moved to Salem a long time ago I've wanted to bowl here. It looked cute from the outside. I was excited to check it off the list when we finally went a month or so ago. It was pretty dead and I think we went in the late afternoon/ early evening on a Saturday. We only bowled one or two games, because the wood didn't really have any action. I may have only had one mark if that the entire time there. It was rather discouraging so I didn't mind leaving.

How cool would have it been if that French fry machine was working?!?

Well parking was very easy and there were a lot of lanes. I really liked everything about the inside, lots of fish tanks, cool machines, it was really fun looking.

In the end I probably won't come back, but I was glad to finally check it out.
