Union Street Lanes - Holbrook MA

Well first off....sorry to everyone that was caught in my pictures!

Now this is a place that I have meaning to go to ever since it was reopened. This is pretty close to my house, maybe 15 minutes away. It doesn't hurt that it's like 5 minutes from Lynwood's pizza...

There were leagues bowling when we came in on a Friday night, but we were still able to bowl.

The pins had decent action and everything was reasonably priced.

They actually have food/drinks there, which I did not know. I like when places have food options, I think they had a lottery machine too. Can't remember, but hey I'm sure they do.

It's cash only, I do remember that.

I would really like to come back here!

Viking Recreation- East Bridgewater MA

I decided that East Bridgewater wasn't too far to drive so I decided that we were going head there. After dinner we drove over there and it was surprisingly empty. Usually on a Friday night bowling alleys are crowded and annoying. We walked in and the guys working at Viking were super friendly and offered to turn on fun lights or music for us if we wanted. An episode of Criminal Minds I haven't seen was on in the background so I was a little distracted :P The only bad thing about this place is that the pins didn't have a ton of action so it was a little discouraging at times. It was a clean alley and also had an arcade room and offered lottery.

This was an older post I took from my other blog.

Candlewood Lanes - N Reading MA

Intense air hockey game

Now initially we were planning to go to Wakefield, but they were closing early. I figured since reading was close to Wakefield we could go here, since we've never gone before. Well it took a while to get there, but we finally got to Candlewood Lanes.

This was a couple months ago, I think we went in March? I remember that I didn't bowl so great though, I don't think it was the pins though, I think I was just biting the big one that night.

There was a league bowling and there were still plenty of lanes for us and others to bowl on, that's always good. I hate when league bowling takes up an entire alley.

I remember the staff being friendly and it was reasonably priced, I know it was by the hour and not the string. I think it was cash only though. Plenty of parking out in the lot, even with snow taking up some of it.

I'd go back if I was in the area probably, if Wakefield wasn't open haha.

Colonial Bowling - Weymouth MA

Now this is probably one of the worst alleys that I've been to.

It's very easy to find and I've been meaning to try going there for years.

We pull up and head in and the lady says that there is going to be a birthday party, they were only taking up a few lanes, but the entire place was going to turn cosmic. We went in the afternoon...... Okay fine, we tried to bowl a string really quickly just so we could cross it off the list. The action on the pins was so awful, after a miserable game we packed up our balls and headed out.

Metro Bowl - Peabody MA

We have gone to this alley maybe 3 times now? This pictures are scattered about from the times that we've been there.

There are a lot of cool things about this place, the first time we went they had a great Sunday night special, 10 a person for 2 hours of bowling w/ a soda. I love places that have great deals. This place is really big and has a separate cosmic bowling area!
Having that separate is great, the regular bowling area is always open and you're not squished next to someone.
They have a snack bar plus they also serve alcohol I believe.

Ron's Bowling and Ice Cream- Hyde Park MA

I have older and newer pictures from Ron's, here are the older:

Newer:

We have bowled at Ron's in the past and we recently went there for ice cream.

This is a pretty small alley and they do league bowling so call ahead and make sure that they are free for non league bowling.

They are slightly on the pricy side and shoe rentals are extra. Parking is on the street and its real easy to find. Having a papa Gino's across the street is a plus.

Pilgrim lanes - Haverhill ma

YouTube Video

This is one of the best alleys we've been to! It was huge and it had stands/bleacher seating for our non existent fans.
There was a video camera on the pins that you just press a button and it pops up, that was real fun.

This place wasn't very cheap, but I'm really happy that we got to finally go and check it out. I'd like to go back sometime in the future.
This might be the only good thing in Haverhill................

Westgate lanes - Brockton MA

Well this is one of the alleys that I grew up going to, this and stoughton (RIP). Since we missed out on going to Buffalo Wild Wings we headed over here, I took this as a chance to take updated pictures.

Well we were here at 8am so we were a little inconsistent, but being here early was great because it was 2.50 a string per person. Normally they are a pretty pricy alley.

-There are only 12 candlepin lanes I think, they are mainly 10 pin.
-They are normally pretty expensive, but coming super early saved us money.
-They just added a whole new arcade area.
-they have a huge parking lot.
-there is a restaurant/pub plus a snack bar
-there is a pro shop here
-the pins have good action

I dislike complete automatic scoring, there were times where the scoring system was faster than the pins falling.
