Viking recreation - E Bridgewater MA revisited

Here are some updated pictures I took from my last trip to Viking.
We came right after a birthday party ended, good timing!
I never bowl super great here, but it's a nice place not too far from me, reasonably priced!

Ficcos Bowladrome - Franklin MA

Relatively speaking Franklin isn't too far from my house, but for us to all go there it isn't super convenient. It's always been in the back of my head to go there. Well yesterday we finally did!

It was a pretty big alley so thankfully getting a lane wasn't an issue. They even put us on a different side than all the kids were on which was nice.

We bowled an okay game and I'm really glad we finally took the trip down 495 to check them out.

It was $4 a string at the time when we were there which was okay. I like when we can bowl for under 4. Shoes were 2.75 I think? They took cards which is helpful and there is tons of parking.
They also had lottery which was nice.

The lanes are in good shape and everything worked well. No balls stuck, no broken resets. They even offered average cards. I wish I was closer to here so I could bowl here more.

Thumbs up from us

South Boston Bowlarama - S. Boston MA revisited

LoL

Well the night started with us actually trying to go to Olindys in Quincy, but they were full with league night(league night on Friday night WTF?!?). After those plans were quickly scrapped we tried to think of somewhere else to go. We decided to head over to Southie, it was pretty close. We actually found quick parking so that was good! There is no lot here so keep that in mind on what time you go.

I was undecided if I was going to use the house balls or mine. Decided on mine and I bowled pretty decent for the two strings we bowled. We opted for two because we were starving and we weren't feeling the music. It was pretty much clubby music, normally when we've gone it's been classic rock. For three of us it was only $25, sounds good to me.

I haven't been here in a long time and I'm glad we went.

The cosmic they were having wasn't too intense that you couldn't see or anything. They serve alcohol and have a small arcade. They also take credit cards with a $20 min I believe.

SIMPSONS PARTY ROOM

American Lanes- Southbridge MA

I kind of touched base on American Lanes in my normal blog in a post for Brimfield. When I head out to a part of the state that I don't go to often I always want to check out a new alley. There were a couple of places kind of near there. After eating we settled on checking out American. I called first to make sure they were open. I think it was about a 15 minute drive. There wasn't really anyone there when we came in, but the guy working there was SO NICE. It's hit or miss if you deal with nice people in candlepin.

So we start bowling, the floor was super slick. I almost fell and Mike was the same. After adjusting we bowled pretty decent for the three strings we played.  The pins had good action and we had to place to ourselves for a bit. I'm glad a birthday party made its way in though. I'm glad to see that they were getting business and its a great sound when you're in an alley and all you hear is pins.

The prices were great and I hope to come back and visit.

Boston bowl revisited

With my friends Joanna and Shane up here from NY, I had to take them bowling of course. Whenever Joanna is here we generally go bowling. Boston bowl is the definition of convenience in candlepin. They are open 24 hours, have candlepin and 10 pin, arcade, food , drinks and pool. I couldn't think the last time I've been there to tell the truth, mainly because its usually packed to the brim with small children and its expensive.
My anxiety is high when I go there because with having your own bowling balls, you get a little neurotic when someone reaches for them (aka children). So we decided to use the house balls on this trip to settle some of that anxiety.

Well they have a brand new scoring system and tv screens. The scoring system left me stressed and confused, but the one cool thing about it is that it tells you how fast you throw. You only bowl one box at a time there, I generally like to do 2.

I ended up bowling a 107 I think and threw about 20 mph, pretty cool.

Oh don't forget the struggle don't forget the Boston bowl socks

Malden Sq bowladrome/ Ryan's family amusements - Malden MA

Well Malden is really close to Boston and you wonder why we haven't gone there earlier? Well actually Garvey and I tried going a couple of years ago, we called and said they were open until 10. We got there at 8:45 and they told us they were closed....well then. So I've been pretty jaded on going back there, after 2 years later we finally made our way back over there.

I just recently got tattooed so after a couple of boxes I quickly had to sit out. While everyone was bowling I adventured around the alley. I went into the arcade and played a game on a very sad unkept crusin exotica. After playing one round a rude child belonging to a birthday party told me to get up. Well then.... So not feeling like dealing with an unruly crowd of angry children I made my way back to everyone bowling. Mike actually broke 100 for the first time.

This place was NOT cheap at all. I was actually happy I sat out of 1 1/2 games. I think it was 4.50/ string? I probably won't head back, but hey it was one check off the list and that's the important part.
